It can be really frustrating to put in so much effort to bake a cake only to have it stick to the pan when you try to remove it.
Most people, I believe, have experienced this at some point in their lives.
I have an easy approach to keep cakes from sticking to the pan that I’ve been using since I first started creating cakes.
In this post, you’ll learn:
- What to use to keep cakes from sticking to the pan
- How to prepare cake pans for batter
- How to remove cakes from the pan
Let’s get started.
What to use to keep cakes from sticking to the pan
There are numerous methods that can be used to keep cakes from sticking to the pan, including nonstick spray, cake goop, butter, and flour.
I’ll be honest: I don’t use any of those ways.
I use parchment paper, and it works wonderfully.
I’ve never had a cake get stuck before.
Because of this, I saw no reason to use any of the other techniques.
However, experiment with other ways to see what works best for you.
I’ve included a YouTube video below explaining how I prepare my cake pans.
How to prepare cake pans for batter
Next, we will talk about how to prepare your cake pans for the batter.
As previously mentioned, I prefer to use parchment paper.
It doesn’t really matter which brand you use.
We want to put the parchment paper in the cake pan.
To fit the parchment paper in the pan, we must first cut it to the correct size.
I’m using a 6-inch cake pan.
Start by taking a large sheet of parchment paper and fold it multiple times.
Next, place the cake pan on parchment paper and score it with scissors.
This will be the line where you will cut.
Cut where it’s scored.
Once cut, place each round in a cake pan.
It should fit perfectly.
(You should have a few cake rounds to put in your cake pans.)
How to remove cakes from the pan
After the cake has baked and cooled, it is time to remove it from the pan. Using a butter knife, carefully detach the edge of the cake from the pan.
When the cake’s edge has parted from the pan, flip it over and it should easily release.
Finally, peel off the parchment paper.
