Welcome! I’m Lenora, a wife, mother, cake artist, and blogger. When I started making cakes in 2013, I fell in love with the art of cake decorating. It has been that “thing” that keeps me growing and learning every day.

How I started cake decorating

I was an Army wife, a stay-at-home mom with a one-year-old, going through our first PCS (permanent change of station) from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to Vilseck, Germany. Being away from family and friends, I needed an outlet to tune out all the changes I was going through. I would watch cake decorating tutorials during my free time, and I quickly felt the need to buy supplies and see if it was something for me.

For my first time living on a military base, I lucked out with some amazing neighbors. We became very close and supported each other. Since I didn’t have a mixer, one of my neighbors let me borrow hers until I could get one of my own. With that mixer, I practiced my skills and began making cakes for my family and friends.

Word got around, and with my husband telling everyone at work, I started getting orders for custom cakes. In the beginning, my focus was on making fondant-covered cakes. It was quite a challenge to learn because fondant is tricky to work with, but I managed to pull it off.

Taking a step in a new direction

In 2019 it finally clicked that I liked taking pictures of my cakes and putting together “how-to” videos. I decided to create more content-like posts and start writing about the ins and outs of cake decorating. In spring 2020, I started my social media accounts, and then in January 2021 I created this website and started blogging and sharing tutorials.
